Verapamil Down-Regulates Iron Uptake and Up-Regulates Divalent Metal Transporter 1 Expression in H9C2 Cardiomyocytes

The authors investigated the effects of the L-type voltage-dependent Ca2+ channel blocker verapamil on non-transferrin-bound iron uptake as well as divalent metal transport 1 expression in H9C2 cells by the measurement of radio-labeled 55Fe(II), RT-PCR and western blot analysis.
