ABCB1 Confers Resistance to Carboplatin by Accumulating Stem-Like Cells in the G2/M Phase of the Cell Cycle in P53^null Ovarian Cancer

Researchers demonstrated that acquired resistance to carboplatin in SKOV3 harboring a p53null mutation, but not in OVCAR3 with a p53R248Q, induced a significant portion of cells accumulated in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle, where cells highly expressed stemness marker with elevated proliferative capacity, which they believed was reversed by ABCB1 inhibition to the levels observed in non-resistant parental cells.
