Scientists hypothesized that the lysine demethylase ubiquitously transcribed tetratricopeptide repeat containing Y-linked (UTY) decreased methylation uniquely in male valvular interstitial cells responding to nanoscale ECM cues to promote an osteoblast-like cell phenotype.
